My name is Gavin! I am a rescue dog and adopted in July by Ellie and Jeremy Hansen, the owners of Lovable Pets.
Here’s my story…
I had a pretty terrible life before. Even though I’m just a little guy, I was an “outside” dog belonging to someone on the Fort Peck Indian Reservation in Montana. I had a terrible skin infection and I was very depressed because no one loved me anymore. One day in June my owner called an Animal Control Officer to come and shoot me. This was the saddest day of my life.
Luckily, this nice Animal Control Officer saw something in me that my owner did not, and he took me away to a safe place and did not kill me.
My first safe place was called Wolf Point Pound Puppies. They took great care of me and saved my life. However, my skin had a terrible infection so my hair just peeled right off! They knew I needed more experienced medical care, so that is when I was transferred to my second safe place by the Rimrock Humane Society. My new home for the next few weeks would be a very generous and nice veterinarian here in Billings. I was on a lot of medication but my skin started to heal, and so did my spirit. The Rimrock Humane Society began searching for a new home for me.

That is when a very loving lady saw me on Facebook and she could not bear the thought of me living in a kennel, so she came to get me and take me home as her “foster dog.” She took me to her apartment—my third safe place. Her name was Mallory and she was always smiling and kind. She promised to take care of me until someone wanted to adopt me. My spirit healed even more, and my tail started to wag more, too!
But Mallory started to feel bad that I did not have a yard to run and play in, and I was inside most of the day, so she asked for someone else to be my foster home so I could continue my healing.
That is when I arrived at my fourth safe place with Ellie. I knew I was home the minute I met her. It was like I lived at her house before! I felt like this was where I was supposed to be. Her other three dogs welcomed me right away. I was potty trained in less than 24 hours. I got to go camping, hiking and even sailing. I loved being part of this family. So when Ellie said she was going to adopt me…it was the happiest day of my life.
